Exam structure
Multiple Choice
40 → 42 questions, now with 4 answer choices (A–D) instead of 5. Still 90 minutes, 55% of score.
Free Response
Still 4 questions at 90 minutes (45% of score), but the internal structure changed:
Course units (reorganized)
The old 10-unit structure collapsed into 4 larger units:
New content areas
- File I/O —

String.split()for delimited data - Type conversion —
Integer.parseInt()andDouble.parseDouble() - Ethics — explicit topic on ethical/social issues around data collection
The Java Quick Reference now includes File, Scanner (nextInt, nextDouble, nextBoolean, nextLine, next, hasNext, close).
What stayed the same
Total exam time (3 hours), two-section structure (MCQ → break → FRQ), the 1–5 scoring scale, and core Java content: arrays, ArrayLists, 2D arrays, recursion, sorting, searching, and OOP fundamentals.
